Council Committees

Activities & Events Committee

Responsible for:

  • Planning and coordinating various Council activities and events to include, but not limited to, any of the following:
    • Supervisor of the Year Award
    • Employee of the Year Award
    • Staff Appreciation BBQ
    • Professional Development Conference
  • Working with the Communications committee to coordinate the necessary marketing materials to promote Council activities and events.
    Participating in other major university events, such as Homecoming, Graduation, and Fall Welcome.

Communications Committee

Responsible for:

  • Gathering and distributing information regarding university activities, events, and announcements that may affect staff on a weekly basis (via the USC Web site and USC listserv.)
  • Maintaining and updating the USC information brochure, and providing it for Council activities and events, or other university events that may involve or support the Council’s mission and goals.
  • Reviewing the information content of the USC Web site, and suggest changes, additions, or deletions to the Administrative Associate.
  • Providing any other marketing materials needed to promote various Council activities and events, and to recruit Council members.

Elections Committee

Responsible for:

  • Working with the Communications committee to prepare a Call for Nominations announcement, to be approved by the Executive Board, and distributed by the Administrative Associate.
  • Conducting all elections, including the general Council Election meeting and all special elections as needed.
  • Presenting a written report with election results to the Executive Council for confirmation at the next scheduled meeting.
  • Working with Administrative Associate to send out a welcome letter to all newly elected Council members.

Work Climate Committee

Responsible for:

  • Understanding issues impacting the workforce (training, professional development, compensation, discrimination, generational issues, budgets, transportation issues, etc.)
  • Identifying existing programs and services to improve or alleviate these issues, or recommend changes, enhancements, or establishments of programs to meet these needs.
  • Facilitating the communication of programs and services to university staff.
  • The committee is encouraged to seek assistance from those who possess knowledge and expertise with regard to the issue they are exploring.

Campus Safety & Health Committee

Responsible for:

  • Understanding issues regarding safety and health affecting university staff (work-life balance, health issues, emergency preparedness, etc.)
  • Identifying existing programs and services to improve or alleviate these issues, or recommend changes, enhancements, or establishments of programs to meet these needs.
  • Facilitating the communication of programs and services to university staff.
  • The committee is encouraged to seek assistance from those who possess knowledge and expertise with regard to the issue they are exploring.

Campus Sustainability Committee

Responsible for:

  • Understanding issues impacting environmental sustainability (climate change, pollution, use of non-renewable energy sources, etc.)
  • Identifying existing programs and services available to improve or alleviate these issues, or recommend changes, enhancements, or establishments of programs to address these issues.
  • Facilitating the communication of programs and services to university staff.
  • The committee is encouraged to seek assistance from those who possess knowledge and expertise with regard to the issues they are exploring.

Scholarship & Fundraising Committee

Responsible for:

  • Organizing and facilitating a USC scholarship program.
  • Identifying existing scholarship programs and services available to university staff.
  • Identifying various fundraising programs and projects, and facilitating fundraising activities throughout the fiscal year.
  • Facilitating the communication of these programs and services to university staff.
  • The committee is encouraged to seek assistance from those who possess knowledge and expertise with regard to the issues they are exploring.

Additional Commitees can be created and/or approved by the Executive Council Board members at any time. If you have an idea or a suggestion for a commitee for the Council please contact one of your campus specific Council Board members.
